Mr. Pavan Raina belonged to the 1970 batch of Indian Administrative Service (I.A.S.) borne on Tamil Nadu Cadre. After retirement from I.A.S. on superannuation in 2007 he was appointed as Member, B.I.F.R., and then rose to become its Chairman from where he relinquished the charge in July 2010 on completion of his full tenure of 3 years. He was then appointed as Advisor by the Government of Tamil Nadu at New Delhi in June 2011 from where he demitted office in May 2017. He has vast administrative experience as a Senior Civil Servant of more than four decades during which he held several important assignments under the State Government, the Government of India, and also under the United Nations on various important assignments having international ramifications. He is now acting as Mediator / Arbitrator in several proceedings.
