C opyright

Copyrights protect a creator’s right over their original work such as literary and artistic works, including books, music, films, paintings, computer programs, and databases, etc.

At KD Lex Chambers LLP, we provide expert guidance to protect your literary and artistic works under the Copyright Act, 1957. This includes books, music, films, paintings, computer programs, and databases. Our team assists with copyright registration, enforcement, and litigation, offering comprehensive support to protect your works from unauthorized use.

Copyright Registration

We assist you in protecting your original works through registration as per law with the concerned authorities in a hassle-free manner, in the shortest possible time.

Copyright Litigation

Copyright infringement occurs when an unauthorized party reproduces, distributes, performs, makes public or displays the copyrighted work without permission. Our firm provides representation in cases of copyright infringement, seeking remedies through competent law enforcement authorities and courts, which are in the form of:

    1. Injunctions: Preventing further unauthorized use of the copyrighted work.
    2. Damages and Accounts of Profits: Compensation for losses and recovery of profits made by the infringer.
    3. Delivery Up: Seizing and destroying infringing copies.
    4. Infringement of Copyright: When a second party infringes upon your original work. While the district courts of competent jurisdiction in India are equipped to handle such cases at the initial stages, the preferable approach are the High Courts for their broader jurisdiction over such matters for resolution of the same in the shortest period of time.
    5. Cancellation of Copyright: The matters which require cancellation of another’s Intellectual Property are directly adjudicated under the competent jurisdiction of the High Courts.
